Maruti’s first concept electric SUV: will run 550 KM in single charge, also brought ethanol-powered Wagon-R at Auto Expo

Asia’s largest Auto Expo-2023 has started in Delhi today i.e. Wednesday (January 11). The 16th edition of the Auto Expo is being organized under the name ‘The Motor Show’. The first attraction at the event was Maruti Suzuki. To further strengthen its commitment towards sustainable motoring, Maruti showcased its first concept electric SUV ‘eVX’ at the expo.

Maruti has introduced a wide range of 16 vehicles, apart from this the company has showcased Wagon-R Flex Fuel, Brezza S-CNG, Grand Vitara Electric Hybrid, XL6, Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza, WagonR Flex Fuel, A wide range of 16 vehicles have also been introduced including Baleno and Swift. However, the company has not revealed the price of any vehicle.

The company has further strengthened its vision of developing sustainable powertrain systems with technological advancements. Emotionally Versatile Cruiser – The Concept eVX is a mid-size electric SUV concept designed and developed by Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan.

eVX will run up to 550 km on a single full charge
The concept SUV offers a glimpse of the SUV design of the future with an upright posture and commanding high-seating. The concept electric SUV eVX has a 60KWh battery. This car will give a driving range of up to 550 km on a single full charge.

eVX will be launched in the market by 2025
Speaking at the global premiere of the Concept Electric SUV eVX, Toshihiro Suzuki, President and Representative Director, Suzuki Motor Corporation, said, “We plan to launch the Concept EVX, our first global strategic EV, in the market by 2025. We will invest 100 billion rupees i.e. 10 thousand crore rupees on the production of BEVs and their batteries.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “We are committed to developing hybrid, CNG, bio-CNG, ethanol and fuel-fuelled vehicles to help the Government of India’s twin objective of reducing the oil import bill and achieving carbon net zero by 2070.” Working towards adopting techniques like electric.

eVX looks completely different from the traditional SUV
Inspired by the broad concept of an emotional versatile cruiser, the eVX looks completely different from the traditional SUV. The eVX’s upright posture, horizontal hood, commanding high seating, maximum cabin size, long wheelbase, big wheels, high ground clearance and signature LED light elements are key design elements of Suzuki’s SUV heritage. Keeping in mind the futuristic design, it has been crafted to provide aerodynamics. All these features make it different from others as a car with advanced technology.

The Concept eVX is a part of Suzuki’s vision of developing the EV of the future. The SUV will also contribute towards the company’s sustainability mission in India and across the world. Maruti also showcased a range of sustainable products at the expo such as Wagon-R Flex Fuel, Brezza S-CNG and Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid.

WagonR Flex Fuel Prototype
To showcase Maruti’s efforts towards flex fuel technology, the company has introduced the Wagon R prototype running on flex fuel. This car can also run on E85 fuel. Flex fuel vehicles have been developed to run on 20%-85% ethanol blending. These vehicles deliver performance similar to gasoline and better running costs while taking advantage of the large price difference between gasoline fuel and E85 fuel.

The company also showcased its soon to be launched Brezza S-CNG at the expo. Maruti also has the largest range of 14 factory-fitted S-CNG vehicles.

Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid

Over the years, Maruti has taken several initiatives to strengthen environment friendly operations. The company has established a system of circular mobility to incorporate sustainability into all its operations, from product design, manufacturing, vehicle dry wash at dealerships, vehicle dispatch and end-of-life vehicle management.
