Mahapanchayat in Agihar village of Mahendragarh: Demand for arrest of Ambika’s killers, 7 days ultimatum to Punjab Police

A girl from village Agihar in Mahendragarh district of Haryana was married in Kapurthala Punjab. Her in-laws had killed her 6 months ago. On Monday, dignitaries of the area held a mahapanchayat in the village to protest against the lax and lax action of the Punjab Police for not arresting all the accused. Dignitaries from nearby villages reached the mahapanchayat organized under the chairmanship of prominent social worker Thakur Atarlal Advocate.

In the mahapanchayat, the victim’s father Mukesh Kumar told that on May 21, 2022, his daughter Ambika was killed by the in-laws. Ambika was a very promising daughter. She was working in Railway Police. It has been almost 6 months since the incident. However, the police have only arrested Ambika’s husband Yogesh. Everyone else is roaming outside. Anger was expressed in the Mahapanchayat over this action of the Punjab Police.

The accused registered in the FIR should be arrested soon
Thakur Atarlal Advocate said that the police is saving the remaining accused. The mahapanchayat passed a unanimous resolution demanding immediate arrest of the accused named in the FIR, Sombir, Santosh Devi, Shyamsundar, Sonu Devi, Mahendra Singh, Rinku and Naresh and action against them.

People of Mahendragarh will protest on the road on 29 November
Another resolution was passed in the mahapanchayat that on November 29, the people of the area would gather in Mahendragarh and protest on the road and submit a memorandum to the District Deputy Commissioner in the names of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal.

An ultimatum was given in the mahapanchayat that if the accused were not arrested within 7 days, the victim’s family and dignitaries of the area would be forced to protest at Chief Minister Kejriwal’s residence in Delhi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence in Chandigarh. Dignitaries of the area were present in the mahapanchayat on this occasion.
