Very few people of the district know that Jalandhar has a platoon to protect the borders and maintain the pride of the country and it has completed 100 years. Its name is 112 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Dogra also known as Jalandhar Terriers. Its first commanding officer was Colonel HS Dhillon, in 1922 the second commanding officer was Colonel RCB Baristo. Now Colonel is Anant Dogra. Jalandhar Terriers also captured 24 Pakistani paratroopers in the battle of Second World War, 1965. Apart from the 1971 war, the battalion made significant contributions in major operations.

The platoon has 3 Sena Medals to make it proud that there is nothing more important to it than the country. When the regiment was raised in 1922, it was known as 11/7 Indian Territorial Force (ITF) Dogra Regiment, then 6/17 ITF Dogra Regiment in 1941, 17 ITF Dogra Regiment from 1946-48. After independence, 112 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) started serving as Dogra. At present, jawans from 5 states (Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal, Haryana and Punjab) are part of the battalion.
