The woman alleges that Jitendra Awhad had touched her inappropriately during the inauguration of the new bridge in Mumbra. On his complaint, the Mumbra police registered a case against Awhad.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA and former Maharashtra minister Jitendra Awhad on Monday said he has decided to resign from the assembly membership over the “fake” cases registered against him by the police. Mumbra police in neighboring Thane district on Monday registered a case against Awhad under section 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage woman’s modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on a complaint by a woman.
