Pakistan By-Poll Results: The by-elections held in Pakistan on Sunday has brought good news for the former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party, has won the maximum number of seats in the by-elections to 11 parliamentary and assembly seats in the country.
PTI has won a total of 6 National Assembly and two Punjab Assembly seats. In this by-election, he was mainly facing Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Political experts believe that in the general elections to be held in Pakistan next year Imran Khan The party will get a lot of benefit from this.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that, in Pakistan, elections were held for 8 seats of the Parliament (National Assembly) and three seats of the Punjab province’s assembly. A total of 101 candidates were in the fray in this election, out of which 52 were in Punjab, 33 in Sindh and 16 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
6 seats won
Khan himself contested seven parliamentary seats, winning six of them. He was defeated by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate in Karachi seat. His party also faced defeat in Multan, where PTI supported Mehr Bano Qureshi. Mehr is the daughter of former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Apart from six seats in Parliament, PTI also won two seats in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. This has strengthened the position of his Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhary Pervez Elahi.
