‘If you become PM again…’, Imran Khan’s statement about America


Imran Khan Remark Over America: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan is taking health benefits at his home in Lahore, during which there is a huge change in his attitude. After softening the stance towards India, now he has shown softness towards America.

Actually, Imran Khan has been accusing America of conspiring to oust him from the power of Pakistan. Even Imran Khan has been openly making rhetoric against America in the media.

Now Imran Khan has said that he wants to improve relations with the US if he is re-elected and does not blame it for ousting him as Prime Minister of Pakistan. After the deadly attack on himself this month, Imran Khan is giving interviews to many media organizations taking health benefits. During an interview with the Financial Times, a British newspaper, he said he no longer blames the US and wants a respectable relationship if he is re-elected. It is noteworthy that both PM Shahbaz Sharif and America have been denying Imran’s conspiracy charge.

There should be good relations with us, especially with America. Our relationship with America has been as a master-servant or master-slave relationship and we have been used as a hired gun, but for that I blame my governments more than America.

What is the Donald Lu episode?

70-year-old Imran Khan lost the trust vote in April this year and had to lose the PM’s chair. Imran had alleged collusion between current PM Shahbaz Sharif and America. Imran Khan named US Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asia Donald Lu, accusing him of threatening the Pakistani ambassador.

Imran had said that Lu had threatened former Pakistan ambassador to the US, Asad Majeed, that the consequences of not removing Imran Khan through a no-confidence vote would be dire. In this regard, Imran had claimed to have caught the cipher (code message) used for communication between the embassies.

In May this year, Pakistani newspaper Dawn had said that Imran Khan demanded the sacking of Lu in an interview with CNN. He had said, “Imagine asking the ambassador of a country with a population of 22 crores to get rid of your prime minister.”

Imran had claimed that the opposition’s no-confidence motion against him was the result of a foreign conspiracy as Islamabad was pursuing its own independent foreign policy with countries like China and Russia. He had alleged that funds were being sent from abroad to remove him from power.
