There has also been anger in Punjab after the arrest of farmers protesting against the central and state government in Karnataka. Farmers have blocked the highway in Amritsar and Tarn Taran of Punjab. The farmers have instructed the Karnataka government to release their farmers soon, otherwise these dharnas may be indefinite. Farmers have blocked the highway at Manawala toll plaza and Harike in Amritsar.
Joint Kisan Morcha zone head Mangal Singh informed that a meeting of farmers was called in Bangalore on Monday, in which the farmers demonstrated against the state government. During this, around 2000 farmers were arrested. Farmers who had migrated from Punjab under the United Kisan Morcha have also been arrested. All the main roads of Punjab have been blocked only after the call from Karnataka.
There was a jam after jamming the toll plaza.
The dharna will continue till the farmers are released
Mangal Singh told that this dharna has been organized to release the farmers. The dharnas will continue till the farmers are not released. People of United Kisan Morcha have also sat at Manawala toll plaza in Amritsar and Harike. No vehicle will be allowed to pass through the highway.
Punjab government also warned
The leaders of the United Kisan Morcha have also warned the Punjab government. They say that it has been more than 6 months since the Punjab government was formed, but their problems are still not resolved. The government had agreed to pay Rs 1500 for paddy and promised to give Rs 2500 per acre of stubble, but the government backed down, for which farmers across Punjab have given a call to close the roads on 30 September.
