The bail plea of ​​former MLA Simarjit Singh Bains trapped in the rape case could not be heard in the High Court. The hearing of the case had to be postponed due to the strike by the lawyers of the High Court. Now the High Court has fixed November 4 for hearing. Bains has filed a petition seeking regular bail in the case. Earlier, he had sought bail from the Ludhiana court. Bains is currently in custody in the rape case registered against him.

Case was registered in 2021
It is worth noting that on July 10, 2021, a case was registered against Bains and his associates in Police Division No. In this case, the victim had accused former MLA Bains of rape. After this, a case was registered against Bains under sections 376, 354, 354-A, 506 and 120/B.

Court had given a fugitive agreement
Six others including former MLA Simarjit Singh Bains are accused in the case. The accused were declared as absconders by the court as they did not appear before the court. Apart from Bains, the accused include Karmjit Singh, Paramjit Singh Bains, Sukhchain Singh, Pradeep Kumar alias Gogi, Baljinder Kaur and Jasbir Kaur. On July 10, a case was registered under various sections in case number 180.

For several months, the woman had staged a sit-in outside the CP office.
The woman, who accused Simarjit Singh Bains, had been sitting on a dharna for several months outside the Police Commissioner’s office, demanding registration of a criminal case against the accused MLA and then his arrest. The woman had to approach the court as there was no hearing anywhere.
