Gujarat: Increase in the number of people taking booster dose, lack of vaccine at some health centers


Gujarat News: The BF-7 variant of Coronavirus is spreading rapidly in Gujarat. The state government said that the Center has appealed to the public to take necessary precautions and there has been a sudden spurt in the demand for the Covid vaccine. Due to the sudden increase in the demand for the vaccine, there has been a shortage of vaccine in some health centers. It is being said that soon the supply of vaccine will increase. Neelam Patel, Additional Director, Health Department, Government of Gujarat, while talking to reporters on Samovar, said that since corona virus There was a huge decline in the cases of COVID-19, so people started taking Kovid-19 lightly.

Only 35 thousand vaccines available with the government
For this reason, people did not show interest in taking booster dose, due to which the government also kept less stock. Till Monday, 35 thousand vaccine bottles are available with the state government. Neelam Patel said that the number of people taking booster dose has increased since last few days. Till the first week of December, on an average, 3,000 vaccinations were being done on a daily basis, but since December 15, suddenly a large number of people are coming to take booster doses.

Vaccine supply will be restored soon

From Friday, 10,000 people were being given a dose of vaccine every day, due to which some health centers were facing shortage of vaccine. Neelam further said that a new order has been placed for the vaccine and she hopes that soon the supply of the vaccine will be restored and people will not have to return without getting vaccinated.

Rajkot District Collector Arun Mahesh Babu took stock of the situation and preparedness for Covid-19 challenges and also visited government hospitals, oxygen plants and Covid wards. After this, he told the journalists about the stock and supply of the corona vaccine. He said that he will discuss the vaccine with the District Development Officer and Rajkot Municipal Commissioner and request to increase the supply of vaccine for the district.

At the same time, in Ahmedabad, District Education Officer Hitendra Padheria held a meeting with the school management through a video conference and instructed them to take precautionary measures like making masks mandatory for students and following Covid guidelines in schools.
