India Covid News: Amidst the rapid rise in the infection of the corona virus, the Government of India is busy in taking measures to prevent it. While tightening the Covid Guidelines, the Union Health Ministry has asked the states and union territories to be prepared for any situation. Early detection of new coronavirus variants and efforts to prevent infections caused by those variants is one of the government’s recent measures. According to officials aware of the developments, the government has decided to focus on this amid a surge in corona cases globally.

So far, at least four cases have been reported in India. Experts believe that there is nothing to worry about until the new variant is indicated.

A senior central government official said, “The sub-variant of coronavirus found in the country so far is very similar to the old form of Omicron, so there is no need to panic, as we are dealing with large-scale population infected with Omicron. But have already done vaccination. “The official further said,” Now the focus of the government’s surveillance measures will be on the initial tracking of new variants and clustering of the impact of those new variants.
Sars-CoV-2 variant also under watch
The central government recently released a set of revised Covid guidelines, focusing on early detection, isolation, timely disposal of suspected and confirmed cases. The government has emphasized on the need to detect, prevent and monitor the outbreak of Sars-CoV-2 variant.
Government’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Program
The government is eyeing full implementation of Covid-surveillance under the existing Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) which tracks all types of cases in the country. According to the official, all state and district surveillance officers will be involved in surveillance in coordination with the concerned stakeholders.
In the series of surveillance measures, all international passengers arriving in the country will be monitored so that different variants of corona that have spread in other countries can be detected and patients can be made corona-free at the airport itself.
Special screening of passengers coming from international flights
The official said that the government will also take 2% random test samples from every flight while conducting RT-PCR test of international passengers, irrespective of their destination of departure and all positive samples will be sent for genomic sequencing. All the people found to be Kovid positive will be kept under observation or in quarantine as per the prescribed guidelines.
The government official also informed that a nationwide network to deal with outbreaks under health facility-based surveillance will monitor influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI). The official said that all ILI and SARI surveillance data will be recorded under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP).
