Let us tell you that under this technology you have to install a GPS device in your car. As soon as you bring the vehicle on the tolled highway, the calculation of toll will start. The distance you have traveled on that road. Accordingly the money will be deducted. This amount will be deducted directly from your bank account. You will also have to give your bank account information to the government. Also you have to register your vehicle. With this system, the exemption on toll given to the local people will stop.
Fastag is applicable now
If GPS based toll system is applicable. People will not have to pay fixed charges, but they will have to pay the same amount as far as they have traveled. This will end the problem of traffic jams near toll plazas. Along with this, the cases of violence coming to the toll plaza every day will also end. Let us tell you that FASTag was installed in 16 percent of cars in 2017-18, which has increased to 96.3 percent in 2021-22. In 2017-18, a total toll of Rs 3,532 crore was collected from FASTag. This has increased to Rs 33,274 crore in 2021-22.
