Golden Globes 2023: When and where you can watch the live awards ceremony in India


The Golden Globes are returning with a physical awards ceremony after a two-year break. The 80th edition will air live in India on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 6:30 am onwards (red carpet from 5:30 am onwards) on Lionsgate Play. The Telugu film RRR has been nominated in two categories, Best Foreign Film and Best Original Song for the hit song Naatu Naatu. Director SS Rajamouli and stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan will attend the ceremony to represent the film. The awards ceremony will be held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The landmark 80th edition will honour the best of the past year in both film and American television. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has voted and chosen for their winners. On Twitter, the HPFA’s official handle @goldenglobes will also share the names of the winners as they are being announced.

Some of the expected attendees are filmmakers Rian Johnson, James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro and Lukas Dhont. Writer-director and former winner, Quentin Tarantino is also a presenter at the ceremony on Wednesday. Other young stars like actor Jenna Ortega, nominated for the series Wednesday, and actor Julia Garner, nominated for both Ozark and Inventing Anna will also be attending. Other Golden Globe nominees Steven Spielberg, Michelle Williams, Tony Kushner, Austin Butler and Niecy Nash are also expected to walk the red carpet.

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who is nominated for Best Original Song with Carolina for the film Where The Crawdads Sing, could also make an appearance. Her competitor, Rihanna, who is nominated in the same category, for the song Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is also expected to attend.

For Indians fans, Rajamouli, along with Ram Charan and Jr NTR, will be making their first awards show appearance together. They have been attending several question and answer sessions and special screenings of RRR to promote their film in the popular awards season in the US.

The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once lead this year’s film nominations. The live show will be hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael. Producer Ryan Murphy will be receiving the Carol Burnett Award, while actor Eddie Murphy will receive the Cecil B DeMille Award.
