Girl raped in Delhi’s Kendriya Vidyalaya: 11-year-old girl accuses two senior students

A case of alleged gang-rape with an 11-year-old student has come to light in the washroom of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Delhi. The accused are two senior students of the same school. The incident happened in July. After the matter came to the notice of the Delhi Commission for Women, it issued a notice to the police and the principal, after which the parents lodged a complaint with the police station on Tuesday.

The regional office of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has also started investigation. The organization says that the school had not received any complaint from the student or her family. There was a meeting of parents-teachers in between, even then no such complaint was made.

Police said that in the report, the girl alleged that she was going to her class in the school in July 2022 when she collided with two boys, who were students of the same school and were studying in class 11th-12th. He apologized to the boys, but they started abusing him and took him inside the toilet.

The student has alleged that the boys raped her by locking the toilet door from inside. He said that when he informed a teacher about the incident, he was told that the boys had been fired and an attempt was made to stifle the matter.

Swati Maliwal seeks action taken report from Delhi Police
Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal, taking cognizance of the matter herself, has sought a report issued to the Delhi Police and the principal of the school. The commission has asked the Delhi Police to provide a copy of the FIR and information about the arrest.

Swati Maliwal has asked the school principal in the notice that when the school authorities came to know about the incident and what action was taken.

Maliwal said that the student has accused the school teacher of suppressing the matter. It is very unfortunate that even schools in the capital are unsafe for children. Strict action should be taken in the matter. Also, the role of school authorities on this issue should also be investigated.
