A loan holder of a cooperative bank in Kapurthala, Punjab got his land freed without paying the loan by preparing a clearance certificate on the bank’s fake letterhead. The bank manager gave a complaint to the city police station about this. The police have registered a case of cheating. As of now the accused has not been arrested.
Gurprem Pal, branch manager of The Kapurthala Primary Cooperative Agriculture Development Bank, Kapurthala, told the police that Pyara Singh, a resident of village Nawan Pind kiln, had taken a loan of Rs 5.5 lakh in 2010 for a dairy farm and Rs 3.5 lakh for agricultural machinery. The person did not pay the loan. He has got the land freed from the department by making a fake letterhead of the bank and preparing a clearance certificate of his land on it.
Gurprem Pal told that Pyara Lal has got his land freed and has also taken loan from any other bank. City police station has registered a case of cheating against the accused Pyaara Lal under sections of 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 IPC.
