The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday told a special anti-money laundering act (PMLA) court that a major part of the proceeds of the multi-crore scam in the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff in various government schools in West Bengal went to the Tollywood film industry. investment was made. ED’s counsel Firoz Edulji told the court that amounts to the tune of Rs 6.50 crore were transferred to several Tollywood actors and actresses from two bank accounts of expelled and arrested Youth Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh.

The actor had taken Rs 40 lakh

Similarly, a Tollywood actor named Boney Sengupta alias Anupirio Sengupta had admitted to taking Rs 40 lakh from Kuntal Ghosh to buy a car. However, late on Thursday, Boney Sengupta returned the amount to the ED. At the same time, no other actor and actress who got money from Kuntal Ghosh has spoken in this matter.

According to sources, the officials of the central agency will summon him for questioning in the coming days. ED’s counsel said that despite repeatedly asking about the source of such a huge amount, Kuntal Ghosh did not give any definite answer in this regard.

Disclose sources of unaccounted money in bank account

The special court judge was also heard by Ghosh’s counsel saying that his client should disclose the sources of unaccounted money in his bank account. The judge said that if someone earns Rs 5 crore through illegal means and then pays tax on Rs 2 crore, then the entire money does not become legal.

Judicial custody extended till March 30

Meanwhile, the ED has already frozen 10 bank accounts of Ghosh and 15 of another expelled and arrested Youth Trinamool leader Shantanu Bandopadhyay, from where transactions worth several crores were traced to ED officials. . After hearing the arguments of both the sides, the special court finally extended the judicial custody of Kuntal Ghosh till 30 March.
