Firing on Afghanistan-Pakistan border, one dead, 12 injured including children and women


Pakistan-Afghanistan Clash: Firing took place on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border amid the visit of General Michael Eric Kurila, head of the US Central Command, to Rawalpindi.

Michael Eric Kurila has come to Rawalpindi to meet the new Army Chief General Asim Munir on Thursday (December 15). Meanwhile, 12 people, including children and women, were injured and one killed in Pakistan’s Balochistan province in indiscriminate firing from across the border by the Afghan army. The Defense Ministry of Pakistan gave this information.

According to Pakistan’s English newspaper DAWN, one person was killed and 12 people were injured in the firing on the Chaman border till 6 o’clock on Wednesday (December 15). In fact, there was firing from the side of the Afghan army when the Pak army was repairing the wire on the border. Earlier this month, seven civilians were also killed in cross-border shelling by the Taliban.

Dr. Abdul Malik of Chaman’s district headquarters hospital told Pakistani media that at least 15 injured civilians were brought to the hospital. This was the second attack by Afghan soldiers from across the border. They did the same on 10 December, in which seven civilians were killed and 16 others were injured. Pakistan has strongly condemned this incident.

Condemning the attack, Balochistan’s Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said that our forces know how to protect the border. Our desire for peace should not be understood as weakness. At the same time, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Asif claimed that the Taliban government of Afghanistan has expressed regret for the firing. After this Islamabad decided not to pursue the matter further.
