FATF got rid of Pakistan’s gray list, know what was the reaction of Pakistan?


Pakistan has got relief from the “Grey” (doubtful) list of the Economic Action Task Force (FATF). After which Pakistan’s reaction was seen on this. Pakistan said that due to the commitment given to the Global Monitor (FATF), it has helped in making significant reforms in the law and procedure of the country. Along with this, Pakistan also said that at the domestic level, the Anti-Terrorism Financing and Money Laundering Administration has been strengthened more capable to face difficult situations.

What did the Pak FO officer say?

After being given relief from the FTF, the Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan said that last night the FATF decided by consensus and removed Pakistan from the gray list. All necessary, technical and procedural requirements have been met and therefore it is being removed from the watch list with immediate effect. According to the FO, Pakistan has made every effort to come out of the gray list. Pakistan has made remarkable progress in combating money laundering and terrorism financing under both the action plans.

The FO Department official said that despite the various challenges facing the Kovid-19 pandemic, the country continued the process of reforms in Pakistan and in line with the best practice of the world, the high level of political power to stop money laundering and terrorism financing. In its response, Pakistan said that coming out of the gray list and achieving the goals of FATF involves a joint effort of the entire nation as various ministries, departments and agencies at the federal and provincial level have taken this initiative. He has made a special contribution in achieving the national goal.

Why did the FTF put Pakistan in the gray list?

FTF has taken Pakistan out of gray list yesterday. In fact, Pakistan had to face failure in taking action against many terrorists including Pakistan’s famous and prominent terrorist, including Jaish-e-Mohammed organization chief Masood Azhar and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization founder Hafiz Saeed, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. And could not take any action against them, due to which Pakistan was included in the gray list of FTF.
