The ED has banned the officials who made the excise policy of Punjab based on the Delhi model. Under this, the officers making the excise policy of Punjab will be able to go out of the country only after the approval of the ED. According to departmental sources, these officers can be called to Delhi next week to investigate the matter. The officers have already been questioned.

The ED had recently raided the residence of Punjab Excise Commissioner Varun Roojam in Sector-20, Chandigarh. After this the team went to the residence of Joint Commissioner Naresh Dubey in Panchkula. Some documents were seized from the house of both the officers. However, his role is not yet clear. In the new excise policy, the AAP government of Punjab had implemented it by making major changes in the policy of the previous government.

At the same time, the liquor traders had challenged this policy in the High Court. The opposition parties had also raised the issue loudly and demanded a CBI inquiry into it. Earlier, the CBI had also registered a case against the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia by raiding the premises of Delhi’s Excise scam.
