- Intoxicated Car Driver Hit Bike In Shahpur Chowk Nakodar, Husband Died Wife Injured, Family Members Protest Before Police Chowki Uggi

In Punjab, a man was killed while his wife was seriously injured in a road accident near Shahpur Chowk in Jalandhar on Sunday. He has been admitted to the hospital. A drunken car driver hit a bullet hard at Shahpur Chowk. Due to this, the husband and wife riding on the bullet fell on the paved road. The husband died on the spot due to his head hitting the paved road.
Baljinder Singh, resident of village Sandhu Chatha, was going towards village Kular Shama along with his wife Anita Rani on bullet. As he reached near Shahpur Chowk, the Indigo car number PB-10CN-4751 coming from the front hit him hard. Witnesses said that the car driver dragged the bike riders for a long distance. The car was being driven by Karmjit Singh, a resident of Tilak Nagar, Jalandhar. Karmjeet was intoxicated at the time of the incident. He also suffered injuries in this incident.

Anita and Karmjeet were rushed to Kala Sanghia Hospital with immediate effect. Anita has been referred from Kala Sanghia to Jalandhar. The police have registered a case against Karmjit Singh on the statement of Anita Rani. Baljinder’s family members reached the spot as soon as they got information about the incident. He also created a ruckus there.
The family members of the police post Uggi in-charge Sukhwinder Pal Singh Multani and the staff alleged that the police was trying to save the car driver Karmjeet. He hasn’t been arrested yet. The Nakodar-Kapurthala road in Uggi was closed for about three hours by the relatives and close ones, protesting against the lax action of the police.
On receiving information about the protest demonstration in Uggi, SHO of Police Station Sadar Nakodar Palwinder Singh reached the spot. He assured the protesting people that the car driver was also injured in the incident and was admitted to the hospital. He will be arrested soon and strict legal action will be taken against him. On the other hand, outpost Sukhvindpal Multani said that the driver of the car has been arrested.
