Drug smuggling network from Ludhiana Central Jail: STF arrested 2 with 400 grams of heroin, 10 thousand drug money

Drug smugglers caught by STF.

In Ludhiana, Punjab, the game of drug trafficking is being run by a mastermind sitting from the Central Jail. STF has busted a racket supplying narcotics among the jailed prisoners by arresting 2 accused, while the kingpin of this racket is lodged in Ludhiana Central Jail. The STF has started proceedings to take him on production warrant for interrogation, while the mobile phone used by the accused in the jail has been confiscated by the jail staff.

The STF has recovered 400 grams of heroin, 10 thousand drug money, a bike and a scooter from the possession of the accused. The apprehended people have been identified as Parminder Singh alias Gaggu (28) resident of Ashok Nagar in Salem Tabri and Harjinder Singh alias Goldy (29) of Janta Nagar. The kingpin of this racket is Ranjit Singh alias Kali, a resident of Salina, Moga, who is lodged in the Ludhiana Central Jail.

SHO Harbans Singh, in-charge of STF Ludhiana range, said that they arrested the accused near the Punjab State Electricity Supply Corporation (PSPCL) office at Gill Road following a tip-off. The accused had gathered there for the supply of drugs.

During interrogation, he told that he is running a drug smuggling racket and smuggling drugs in the jail with the help of Ranjit Singh alias Kali, who has a mobile phone in the jail. Kali instructs them to hand over the consignment to their contacts, who further supply it to the prison. Now the police is preparing to take Kali on a production warrant. After which she will find out about the people associated with the racket from her.

Parminder Singh alias Gaggu is already named in a murder case and is out on bail. He had come in contact with Kali in jail. Harjinder Singh aka Goldie works in Welding Workshop. A case has been registered against the accused in STF Mohali under sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

Earlier on September 19, the STF had arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), a tea stall owner and two inmates who sold drugs inside the jail premises, along with an alleged man supplying drugs to the inmates of the Ludhiana Central Jail. The racket was busted.
