A woman living in a village in Haryana’s Panipat was thrown out of the house by her in-laws in Punjab’s Patiala district for demanding dowry. Actually, there was a demand for the mother-in-law’s jewellery. The brother-in-law had demanded a bike and the husband had demanded Rs 1 lakh and a car.

The reason for not fulfilling these demands was that the accused in-laws threw the woman out of the house along with her two children after 6 years of marriage. The woman has given a complaint to the Panipat police. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused mother-in-law, father-in-law, husband and brother-in-law under sections 323, 406, 498-A, 506 and 34 of IPC.

Torture started shortly after marriage

In the complaint given to the Sector 13-17 police station, a woman resident of a village in the police station area told that she was married 6 years ago with Virendra, a resident of village Sutrana in district Patiala, Punjab. After a few days of marriage, her in-laws started harassing her for dowry.

He started harassing her over small things. Mother-in-law Sundri demanded a gold chain and ring. The husband demanded a car and Rs 1 lakh in cash. Devar Malkit tortured for demanding bike.

The woman alleges that her husband is addicted to drugs. The one who is in a state of intoxication often beats and abuses him. In this fight, along with father-in-law Omprakash, mother-in-law and brother-in-law also support. The couple did not have a child even after four years of marriage.

With the consent of her in-laws and maternal side, the woman adopted her brother’s 4-month-old daughter. After this the behavior of the accused in-laws became even more strict. He started beating on everything. Didn’t give him food on time. Dowry harassment on her further increased.

Asked for mistake in panchayats, then same attitude

After this the couple was blessed with a boy. But the behavior of the accused remained the same. The demand for dowry still persisted. The husband threatened to find out anywhere in her bar, he would kill her and throw her at such a place that no one would even know.

Many times Panchayats were held several times a year to settle the house. Several attempts were made to convince the in-laws. He also sought his mistake in many panchayats. But the dowry harassment of the accused kept on increasing. After this, the four accused beat him up and threw him out of the house along with both the children.
