Iran Hijab Row: During a raid on a school in Iran, security forces beat a schoolgirl so much that she died. According to a report in The Guardian, the security forces wanted the children to sing a government-supported song in the school, but when they refused, Iranian soldiers started beating the students.
According to reports, soldiers raided Shaheed Girls High School in Ardabil city of Iran. He forced schoolgirls to sing a song in honor of the supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei. When the 16-year-old student Asra Panahi, who was present there protested, the security forces started beating her up. This incident is being told of 13 October. According to a statement by the Coordination Council Teacher Syndicates, Asra Panahi was one of the many girl students injured in the incident, but Asra later died due to severe injuries sustained from the beating.
Security forces responsible for student’s death
However, Iranian officials denied that the country’s security forces were responsible for the girl’s death. The Guardian reports that a man claiming to be Asra Panahi’s alleged uncle has told TV that he died of a heart condition present since birth.
7 students injured, 10 arrested
At the same time, after the death of Asra Panahi on Friday, the teachers union issued a statement on Sunday condemning this brutal and inhuman raid by security forces and demanded the resignation of Iran’s Education Minister, Yousef Nouri. Along with this, another report said that seven students were injured and 10 were arrested in this incident that happened last Wednesday.

According to Human Rights Office spokeswoman Raveena Shamdasani, “23 children have died and many more have been injured in at least seven provinces from metal pellets and beatings.” Asra Panahi’s death comes at a time when anti-government protests are going on in the country regarding hijab just a month ago. Due to this there is an atmosphere of panic in Iran. Mahsa Amini, who was protesting against the hijab here, was killed in custody, after which the ongoing protests in the country intensified.
