Dead body of Dalit girl found in Unnao, family alleges rape and murder, police engaged in investigation


Unnao Murder Case: Sensation spread in the area after the dead body of a Dalit girl was found in Unnao. The incident is of Friday. Police said that there were serious injury marks on the body. The girl’s family alleges that unknown people have murdered her after abduction and gangrape. The family refused to perform the last rites. However, the police claimed that the girl died after being run over by a heavy vehicle.

The body was badly mutilated and the relatives identified the girl from her earrings and clothes. Police handed over the body to the relatives after the postmortem. Police said that the postmortem report pointed towards accidental injuries.

Padiwar said, the police claim is false

The brother of the deceased girl alleged that we have decided not to perform the last rites till the accused are arrested. What the police is claiming is absolutely false. My sister was abducted from our house in the night when we were sleeping. The assailants raped her and later killed her. Police said they have not found any evidence to suggest that the victim was raped or murdered. Superintendent of Police, Unnao, Siddharth Shankar Meena said that the postmortem report says that he had received injuries accidentally.

Waiting for the girl’s father to come from abroad

Police said the family is waiting for the girl’s father, who works abroad. According to the girl’s brother, on Wednesday night the brother told that she was missing from her bed. After failing to trace her, we contacted the village head, who told us that in the night, the police found a girl’s body by the side of the road and sent it for postmortem. A local resident took photographs of the body. The brother of the dead girl said that we saw the pictures and they looked like my sister. Then, we went to the police station and saw his belongings.

Protest stopped after the case was registered

Later, the relatives staged a sit-in on a part of the road demanding the arrest of the criminals. They called off the protest when the police registered a case against unknown people on charges of rape, kidnapping and murder. SP Meena said that no arrest has been made so far. Police said that on Wednesday night they received information that a girl’s body was found near a roadside country liquor shop. The shop is near his residence.

No complaint was made before the body was recovered

When no one claimed, the police team reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. Police said they checked her phone and found that she had stepped out of her residence on Wednesday night. SP Meena said that no complaint was made before the body was recovered. He said that the crime scene clearly shows that there was an accident at that place. Samajwadi Party MLA Lalji Verma and BSP MLA Umashankar Singh raised the matter of the girl’s death in the Assembly on Friday and demanded a detailed probe by an independent agency.
