It is written under the map – PCC presidents should get powers. To empower the Congress in the states, PCC presidents should get real powers. This will make the ground workers of the party truly empowered. We must provide a credible alternative to BJP’s centralization of power in party and governance matters. Empowering state, district, block dena and grassroot level functionaries will not only free the new leader from the heavy burden of over-administration but will also help in building a strong state leadership.

Three including Tharoor filed nomination, Kharge heavy on everyone
There were 3 nominations for the election of the President in the Congress on Friday. The first nomination was filed by Shashi Tharoor, the second nomination by Congress leader KN Tripathi from Jharkhand and the third by Mallikarjun Kharge. With this it has been decided that the next president will be a non-Gandhi.

Among the proponents of Tharoor and Tripathi, there were few leaders, but the list of proponents of Mallikarjun Kharge, who is said to be the Gandhi family’s choice, has the names of 30 big leaders. These include the big faces of G-23, Anand Sharma and Manish Tewari. The picture of leaders gathering with Kharge is making it clear that nominations are the result.

The election of Congress President will be like this

  • If there are more than two people, the returning officer sends those names to the Pradesh Congress Committee. On the day of voting, all the members of the state committee participate in it. Elections are held at the PCC’s state headquarters through voting papers and ballot boxes. If there are two candidates, the voter has to write the name of any one and put it in the ballot box.
  • If there are more than two candidates, the voter has to write the first two preferences using numbers 1 and 2. Votes of those who write less than two preferences are declared invalid. However, voters can give more than two preferences. The ballot box deposited in PCC is sent to AICC.
