Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann reached Rajindra Hospital in Patiala late on Wednesday evening for surprise checking. As soon as he reached the hospital, there was an atmosphere of panic among the medical staff. Bhagwant Mann first went directly to different wards and inquired about the condition of the patients. He asked the patients whether the doctors come on time for treatment or not, whether there was any shortage of medicine or not. After this Bhagwant Mann answered the questions of the media.

Arrived after complaints
CM Bhagwant Mann said that he had a program at some other place, but the entire Malwa is dependent on Patiala Rajindra Hospital, so thought I should also check midway. Mann said that he had received some complaints related to the hospital. When he went to the emergency, he found cancer and accident patients there. He reached the hospital without informing anyone because on first finding out, the hospital management would have already fixed everything.

Patients shared grief with CM Mann

CM Bhagwant Mann said that while he interacted with the patients, some patients got emotional and shared their grief. Some patients told him to get the bed late in the hospital. Many patients said that they did not get the right treatment for about 4 hours.

Prioritizing the health model
CM Bhagwant Mann said that his priority is to fix the health model of Punjab. The shortcomings in the hospital will be rectified. But he has come not to find out the shortcomings, but to ask for the problems. Mann said that medical colleges would be opened in district Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala, whose maps have been completed.

I had surgery when I was 7 years old
Bhagwant Mann told that when he was 7 years old, he had a throat operation at Rajindra Hospital. He said that he has a personal attachment to the hospital. The problems of the patients related to the treatment have been informed to the concerned medical staff and other officers. Mann said that efforts are on to ensure that Rajindra Hospital does not become a referral hospital.

Patients are referred to Chandigarh PGI
CM Bhagwant Mann said that at present, patients are referred from Rajindra Hospital to Chandigarh PGI, but there is already a lot of congestion. Mann said that apart from Bathinda and Sangrur hospitals, medical college of Mastuana Sahib including Trauma Center is being prepared.

For the first time a CM reached the hospital
CM Bhagwant Mann said that when he was an artist, he had made blood bank famous as a brand ambassador but he did not take money for it. Mann said that people told him that for the first time a CM has come to the hospital for checking.
