Farmers’ groups are raising their dharna.
For the last three days, farmers’ groups had been staging a sit-in outside the Verka Milk Plant in Ludhiana, Punjab. On the other hand, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had called the farmers for a meeting in Chandigarh today. CM Mann accepted their legitimate demands after meeting with the farmers. Among the farmers today, only the farmers doing dairy business had gone to meet Bhagwant Mann.
The Chief Minister assured the dairy farmers that the state government was working to bring new schemes in their interest. The problems being faced by the milk producers will be resolved soon. CM Bhagwant Mann said that all his dues will be settled by September 15.
At the same time, the Chief Minister expressed concern about the lumpi disease spreading among the animals. He said that the government is taking steps for the skin disease which is spreading among the animals. Animal vaccination is being done on a large scale in Punjab.
Special teams are being formed so that by vaccinating the animals, they can be saved from this disease. At the same time, the government is also making aware from time to time those who do business of animals, how to take care of animals.
