China: Xi Jinping has become the President of China for the third time. President Xi Jinping will lead the country along with the leaders of China’s powerful 6 in a meeting held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. These leaders have been promoted to the Politburo Standing Committee. Along with Xi, Wang Huning and Zhao Leji have also retained their positions in the PSC. According to the new list released by Chinese media, no woman is included in this list. For the first time in 25 years, there is no woman named in the top leadership of a committee member.
Xi Jinping
Xi is seen as a prince because of his background as the son of revolutionary stalwart Xi Zhongxun, one of the party’s founders. Xi has spent time in the provinces of Shaanxi, Hebei, Fujian and Zhejiang, as well as the city of Shanghai. He is China’s most powerful leader since the presidency of Mao Zedong. Since coming to power in 2012, Xi has eliminated rivals and placed allies in key positions through his anti-corruption campaign.

One of Xi Jinping’s trusted supporters, Li is currently the party secretary of Shanghai and was previously the governor of Zhejiang and Jiangsu party secretary. When Li was part of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party in Zhejiang, he served as Xi Jinping’s Chief of Staff (2004 to 2007).

Zhao implemented Xi Jinping’s anti-corruption campaign as head of the party’s anti-corruption agency ‘Central Commission for Discipline Inspection’. He was previously the director of the Communist Party’s influential organization department. He helped promote many of Xi’s colleagues and supporters to important positions during Xi’s first term.
wang huning
The party’s ideology chief Wang was an academician at Shanghai’s prestigious Fudan University before being called to Beijing by former President Jiang Zemin in 1995. He is widely seen as the brain behind the political ideologies of three Chinese leaders Jiang, Hu Jintao and Xi.
kai kai
Kai, the current party boss of Beijing, served under Xi Jinping in Fujian and Zhejiang provinces and is also seen as part of the New Xijiang Army faction. Kai worked with Xi in Fujian for 15 years. Worked in Zhejiang from 2002 to 2007, when Xi Jinping was party secretary. He was appointed party secretary of Beijing in 2017.
ding xuexiang
Before the party congress, Ding was the director of China’s powerful General Office. This office looks after the administrative matters for the top leaders. He is considered Xi Jinping’s chief of staff and his top aide.
li shi
Li has been the party secretary of Guangdong province since 2017. In the 1980s, when Lee worked as a secretary. He was also elected the head of China’s anti-corruption body.
How members are selected, know the process
During the CCP meeting, party members voted for the new Central Committee. There are 205 members in this committee, of which 11 are women. This committee selects the members of the Politburo. After the meeting is over, the Central Committee meets. In this, 25 members of the Politburo and 7 members of the Standing Committee are elected.
