A child died in a leopard attack last night under Pachpedwa police station area of Balrampur district. The DM has instructed the forest department to catch the leopard. At the same time, there is a lot of resentment among the villagers due to the negligence of the forest department’s team.
12-year-old Aman, a resident of Vishanpur village, a Tharu-dominated area, was going from his old house to a new house late on Friday night. After a long time, when he did not reach home, his elder mother called and told him not to reach Aman’s house. When the family members went out in search of Aman, a blood-soaked body was found lying on the roadside near the village.

Victim’s family will get compensation
The child’s throat was bleeding and there were teeth marks. The villagers informed the police about the matter. Police have taken the body in their possession and sent it for post-mortem. DM Dr. Mahendra Kumar said on Friday that after sending a team of forest department to the spot and getting the matter investigated, instructions have been given to give compensation amount to the victim’s family at the earliest.
Cage Catch Instructions
He said that the forest department’s team has been instructed that if the leopard has become a man-eater, then to catch the leopard, it should be caught and sent to the zoo. He has appealed to the villagers not to leave their children alone during the night and when leaving the house at night, go out with the group and leave the houses with torches or lights. There is a lot of resentment among the villagers due to the negligence of the forest department. The villagers have warned that if there is negligence in catching the leopard, then agitation will be started.
