University students in Chandigarh protest till late on Sunday night.
Students of Girls Hostel of Chandigarh University, Mohali have ended their strike. In connection with the making of obscene videos, the students of the hostel continued to protest in the campus by raising slogans till 1.30 pm on Sunday night. After this, many demands of the students were accepted by the university management. After this, it was agreed to end the sit-in demonstration by the students.
At the same time, a female warden, who made objectionable comments from time to time to the students living in the hostel, has also been suspended by the university administration. The girl students have alleged that if she was told by the warden that she wears small clothes, then her video will be made. After this the administration decided to suspend the female warden with immediate effect.
These demands were accepted
1. Extend the hostel closure time. The university administration has increased the hostel timings from 7 am to 9:30 pm. 2. Dress code to be enforced. 3. All possible help will be provided to the students injured in the lathi charge of the police. 4. The students who protested in the case, who were registered, will be reinstated. 5. The old warden will be replaced by a new warden.
There are also other demands
1. It has been demanded from the university management that they should be given in writing that no girl students have attempted suicide. 2. Take a decision by sitting together all the girl students of the 7th floor of the hostel who are related to the matter and that decision should be uploaded on the web page of the university.
