Chandigarh expects 7 thousand crores: huge budget for the city is necessary for development works

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget today. Many projects related to the development of Chandigarh depend on this budget. According to the information, the UT Administration has demanded about 7 thousand crore rupees from the Central Government for the session of the year 2023-24. This is Rs 1,221 crore more than the current budget of the administration. In the last budget, the Center had provided Rs 5,382.79 crore to Chandigarh.

Of this, Rs 4,843.46 crore was in the form of revenue head which included salary allowances and other expenses. At the same time, Rs 539.33 crore was received by the administration as capital head, which included works related to development.

got less than expected last year
Last year, the administration had demanded Rs 5,833 crore from the Centre. Out of this, about Rs 450 crore was received less. According to the information, this time the administration has to get the works related to the development of the villages of the city done behind the demand of 7 thousand crore rupees from the budget. Projects stuck for a long time have to be completed. At the same time, Garbage Disposal Plant and some other big projects of the Corporation are also to be set up. Apart from this, funds are also needed for some new projects of the administration.
