Drug smuggler Raju caught with 75 kg of sawdust poppy
Police arrested drug smuggler in Jalandhar, Punjab. 75 kilograms of poppy sawdust has been recovered from his possession. The accused had brought a consignment of Chura Poppy from Kashmir and it was to be delivered in Jalandhar. But the CIA staff got to know about it and caught him.
Police officials said that Ashok Kumar, in-charge of the CIA staff, along with his team was on patrol as usual and was making a blockade at Lamma Pind. Meanwhile, the CIA in-charge got information from the informer that the truck number PB-08CB-3427, laden with apple boxes, is standing near an empty plot near Sonu Khinda Transport in Industrial Estate on the road leading to Shekhe village. Huge amount of sawdust poppy has been brought in this truck.
The informer said that the smuggler who brought the poppy sawdust in a truck parked near a dhaba is waiting for the person coming to collect the supplies. If raided with immediate effect, he can be arrested red handed with drugs on the spot. The CIA in-charge got the information of the informer confirmed that he took the staff with him and reached the place where the truck was parked near the dhaba on Shekhe Road. They caught a person standing near the truck.
When the CIA staff asked him his name, he said that his name was Raju Kumar alias Raju son Ayodhya Prasad resident of 40 quarters near Mohan Dhaba Hoshiarpur Road Jalandhar. When asked about the chura poppy, he said that he had brought it from Srinagar in the truck with apples between the boxes.
CIA staff called ACP Paramjit Singh on the spot. When the truck was searched in front of them, three sacks of sawdust poppy were found by the police. When the sacks were weighed in front of ACP Paramjit Singh, they came out to be 25-25 kg. A total of 75 kilograms of sawdust poppy were caught. The accused told that he had brought a supply of apples from Srinagar to the vegetable market in Ludhiana. Along with apples in the truck, sawdust had also brought a supply of poppy to sell in Jalandhar.
Police officials said that a case under NDPS has been registered against the arrested drug smuggler. He said that the accused is being questioned as to whom he was going to give the supply of drugs from Kashmir next. Even before this, how many times he has brought a consignment of drugs and supplied it to Jalandhar.
