Cabinet today: Mineral department recovers 60 crores, interest is Rs 150 crores

Solution plan will come for recovery.

The state government is going to bring a new solution plan for recovery in the mineral department. Under this, interest will be completely waived from the outstanding amount from the defaulters before 31 January 2010, that is, the principal amount will have to be deposited.

The Mineral Department has to recover Rs 60 crore, on which it has increased to Rs 210 crore by imposing interest of 150 crore. A proposal in this regard will be brought in the cabinet meeting to be held on Tuesday. Along with this, in other major issues, approval will be given to auction the parts of the old Rs 33 crore helicopter of the state government for Rs 2.50 crore.

These provisions will be

  • Interest will be completely waived off from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2020, in cases where the outstanding amount is less than Rs 5 lakh.
  • Cases from 1st April 2010 to 31st March 2020 in which the arrears of Rs. above, interest on them should be charged at the rate of 6 per cent instead of 24.
  • In such cases which are pending in the court, the case will be withdrawn on deposit of the amount. That is, in these cases the government has gone to the court against the defaulters, if they deposit the dues, then the government will withdraw the case from the court.
