Air Traffic In India: The number of passengers traveling by air in the country is increasing continuously. According to the data released by aviation safety regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), there has been an increase of 64.61% in the number of air travelers in September 2022. In the month of September, about 1.03 crore people have traveled by air across the country. It is worth noting that this figure is only for travelers doing domestic travel. Of these, about 76.6 lakh passengers have traveled on the local route.
Passenger load factor increased
According to DGCA data, the average passenger load factor (PLF) of airlines in the month of September after August has been 77.5%. Whereas last month the PLF is 72.5%. Passenger load factor of any airline shows how many passengers the airline is traveling with according to its capacity. Let us tell you that Akasa Air has been launched in August. Since then, the number of people traveling in Akasa Air is continuously increasing.
Most passengers were brought home
IndiGo accounts for the largest share of domestic air travel traffic. It is around 57%. In September 2022, about 59.72 lakh passengers have traveled by Indigo to their homes. On the other hand, the domestic share is Vistara, in which 9.96 lakh passengers have traveled in the month of September. Vistara’s stake is around 9.96%. Apart from this, the stake of AirAsia India, Air India is 24.7%. At the same time, the share of SpiceJet has been around 8% in the domestic market in the month of September.
Increase in the number of passengers
Let us tell you that at the beginning of the year 2022, the number of passengers traveling by air was only 64 lakhs, which has increased to 1.03 crores in September. At the same time, in December 2021 last year, about 1.12 crore people traveled in domestic flights. Since January 2022, companies operated 7% fewer flights in view of the falling number of passengers, but in October it is expected that the number of air travelers may increase manifold due to the festive season.
