Britain’s first state funeral in six decades, 500 world leaders to attend

A source in the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office told AFP that around 500 foreign dignitaries are expected to attend the funeral of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. This is the first time in six decades that a state funeral is being held in Britain.

Massive preparations are being made for the funeral to be held on Monday 19 September. According to sources, the people of the operational system have carefully planned for this so that those attending it do not face any problem. News website Politico reported that visitors have been told not to use their own vehicles to reach the Westminster Abbey funeral program. Along with this, the helicopter was also asked not to come to London.

How will foreign leaders reach Westminster Abbey?

The UK has sent an official protocol message to foreign embassies for people attending the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. It states that all these people will be taken to Westminster Abbey by private buses escorted from a site in West London. These buses will already be parked on this site. The reason for this is safety and road restrictions.

However, people have also raised objections to this. A foreign ambassador says, “Can you imagine Joe Biden on the bus?” Actually the US President travels long distances on Air Force One. Which happens to be one of two customized Boeing 747 aircraft. He then uses his Marine One helicopter and an armored limousine called “The Beast”. The US Embassy in London has not yet responded in this matter.

How is the preparation?

After the state funeral of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the year 1965, this is the first time when security and logistics operations in the country have been chalked out on such a large scale. Thousands of police officers from across the country will be deployed in London to keep the huge crowd organized on this occasion. A million people are expected to visit London over the course of four days, along with world leaders and royals. These people will be on the streets leading to the funeral site of London, the capital of Britain.

The coffin of the Queen’s body will be placed on a raised platform inside the 11th-century Westminster Hall. During this, global leaders can reach here and soon after that these leaders can sign a condolence book at Lancaster House. They will also be able to pay tribute of up to three minutes to the late queen. It will be recorded for the media. On the eve of the funeral, King Charles III will host a reception for foreign leaders at Buckingham Palace.

Queen’s final farewell

The funeral procession of Queen Elizabeth II began on Sunday. His staff at Balmoral had taken him to Edinburgh on a chariot.

After this, St Giles Cathedral was kept in Edinburgh for 24 hours on Monday 12 September to pay tribute to the body of Queen Elizabeth.

The body of the Queen will be taken to London on Tuesday. During this, his daughter and Princess Ann will be with him.

From here the coffin of the Queen will reach RAF Northholt Buckingham Palace from Edinburgh Airport.

The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II will be taken to Westminster Hall at around 3 pm on Wednesday.

After this, his coffin will remain for the public for four days before the last rites on September 19.

Here the Queen’s coffin will be placed on a high platform built inside the 11th-century Westminster Hall.

On Monday, September 19, the Queen will be given the last farewell with full state honors.

Queen Elizabeth II will be buried at the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor.
