Cancer was completely cleared from the body of Alyssa, a small girl from the UK, with Base Editing Therapeutic Treatment. All the treatments that were done earlier had spread completely. After this the doctors decided that the help of revolutionary therapy would be taken to save the girl. After six months the cancer completely disappeared.
However, after using this therapy, the doctors kept Elisa under observation for some time. In May this year, Alyssa was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (cancer). T-cell prevents any kind of dangers from arising in the body. These T-cells had become a threat to the child’s body. This cancer was so dangerous that it could not be removed even with the help of chemotherapy and bone-marrow transplant.

Alyssa’s cancer was believed to be incurable. There was no difference even after chemotherapy and then bone-marrow transplant. Alyssa said she thought she would die. At the same time, her mother Kiona said that she was scared even as Christmas approached because she felt that this would be her last time with her daughter. The Great Ormond Street team used a technique called base editing, which had been invented only six years earlier.
