In Balaghat district, a state-level sit-in demonstration of Azad Teachers Association is going on demanding promotion and restoration of old pension. This movement is continuing since September 14 in the entire district including Katangi, Paraswada. This is now having an impact on school education. Locks are hanging on the doors of many primary and secondary schools.
In many schools, the same teacher is teaching children from class 5th to 8th. The primary and secondary schools operating in a school premises are being handled by 1 teacher or teacher. In many schools, children of older classes are seen teaching children of smaller classes. Here, the Azad Teachers Association has made it clear that their protest will continue till their demand is met.
This is the demand of the independent teachers union
- There is a demand of the union that in place of contribution pension to the teacher teacher cadre across the state, the old pension scheme should be implemented like the old teacher cadre.
- Orders should be issued for the first promoted pay scale / time scale pay scale to the teacher teacher cadre appointed in the year 2006 to 2009 and the second promoted pay scale / time scale pay scale to the teacher teacher cadre appointed in the year 1998 to 2001, 2002.
- Compassionate appointment should be provided to the dependent family members of the deceased teacher teacher cadre in the past, as well as payment of gratuity to the deceased and retiring teacher teacher cadre at par with the government employees.
- Teacher teacher cadre of Guruji cadre should also be given the benefit of seniority from the date of upgradation from education guarantee school to primary school. (This benefit has been given to Guruji cadre in Chhattisgarh).
- The seniority of teacher teacher cadre should be determined from the date of first appointment.
