Honored with ‘Eminent Entrepreneur Award’
Onkar Singh Pahwa, CMD of Avon Cycles Limited has been conferred with the ‘Eminent Entrepreneur Award’ by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during the 117th Annual Session 2022 of PHD-CCI held at Taj Hotel New Delhi on 30 September 2022.
2.5 million cycles are produced every year
Avon Cycles Limited is one of the largest companies in the Indian bicycle industry, producing 2.5 million bicycles every year. The company has a strong market presence in the country with a network of 1500 dealers spread across the country, and also exports a substantial number of bicycles to Africa, Sri Lanka and parts of Europe. Avon currently has a wide range of over 200 products catering to all segments of consumers.
Honored with ‘Udyogratna Award’
Onkar Singh Pahwa joined the family business as a Management Trainee to take over the company, and was instrumental in starting exports to Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. They have participated in more than 40 trade shows on several continents, expanding their business reach overseas to make it the third largest bicycle brand in India.
Free treatment facility for the poor
They expanded into electric mobility by launching electric scooters and rickshaws under the E-World of Avon brand name and introducing Avon fitness machines in the market in 2015. He has generously contributed to the society. And has also built a hospital in the memory of his late mother. Mata Kaushalya Devi Pahwa Charitable Hospital in Ludhiana provides free health care facilities to the economically weaker sections.
Honored with ‘Udyogratna Award’
He is personally involved in providing financial assistance to budding sportspersons, differently abled persons. Omkar Singh Pahwa is passionate about sanitation and providing clean drinking water facilities in schools. Even before this honor, the then Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu was honored with the ‘Udyogratna Award’ on the occasion of the 69th Annual Convocation of Panjab University Chandigarh.
