The Chhawla gangrape accused acquitted by the Supreme Court has been arrested by the Delhi Police on the charge of murder. The names of the arrested accused are Pawan and Vinod. Both are accused of killing an auto driver. Dwarka DCP M Harshvardhan said that one of the two arrested accused, Chhawla, is also an accused in the gangrape case.
In fact, in the 2012 Chhawla gangrape case, the Supreme Court acquitted three convicts, including Vinod, on November 7, while the High Court and the lower court had sentenced them to death.
Auto driver stabbed in the neck
According to the DCP, on the intervening night of January 25-26, Pawan and his accomplice Vinod booked an auto rickshaw in Dwarka area. After some time, they tried to rob the auto driver. When the auto owner protested against this, both of them escaped by stabbing the auto owner in his throat. On reaching the spot, the Delhi Police took the auto driver to the hospital, but he died on the spot.
The name of the auto driver is Anar Singh. Delhi Police said that the accused were identified on the basis of CCTV footage. After investigating the incident, the Delhi Police arrested two accused.

1. Uttarakhand girl raped on February 14, 2012
A 19-year-old girl from Uttarakhand was abducted on 9 February 2012 from Chawla area of Delhi. Several days later, on February 14, the girl’s body was found in a field in Rewari, Haryana. The body was burnt.
2. Burnt the girl with cigarette, poured acid
A case was registered in Najafgarh, Delhi. It was said in the complaint that the accused had taken the girl out of Delhi in a car. During the gangrape, her body was burnt with cigarettes and acid was poured on her face. His body was attacked with the tools kept in the car. After this he was murdered. Ravi Kumar, Rahul and Vinod were made accused in this case.
3. Accused sentenced to death after 2 years of gangrape
In 2014, the trial court found Ravi, Rahul and Vinod guilty and sentenced them to death. In August this year, the High Court had also upheld the death sentence. The court had termed the convicts as ravenous animals roaming the streets.

4. In the Supreme Court, the police also opposed the reduction of the sentenceAfter the High Court’s decision, the convicts filed an appeal against it in the Supreme Court. The Delhi Police opposed the commutation of the sentence. Said that this crime is not only against the victim, but it is a crime against the society. Delhi Police had said that this is a heinous crime. We are against giving any kind of relief to the culprits. The father of the victim girl had also said that the culprits in the case should be hanged.
5. The lawyer for the convicts said – the injuries were not serious, the client was mentally weak
The counsel for the convicts had told the Supreme Court that the age, family background and criminal record of his clients should also be taken into account in this case. Vinod, a client, is also mentally weak. The injuries sustained by the victim are also not serious. On this basis, the lawyer appealed to reduce the sentence.
In opposition to this argument, Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bharti had said – there were 16 serious injuries. After the death of the girl, she was attacked 10 times. Such crimes force the parents to cut the wings of their girls.
6. SC also commented earlier – Punishment should not be based on emotions
During the hearing in the Supreme Court on April 7, the judges had said, “Punishment cannot be given by looking at emotions. Punishment is given on the basis of logic and evidence. We are understanding your feelings, but looking at emotions, in the court There are no decisions. Now the bench of CJI UU Lalit, Justice S Ravindra Bhat and Justice Bela Trivedi has acquitted the culprits.
7. Victim’s father said – he is broken, but will continue the fight
On the release of the culprits, the girl’s father said that we had come here for justice. This is blind law and order. The convicts threatened us in the court room itself. Our 12 years of struggle was ignored. We are devastated by the Supreme Court’s decision, but will continue the legal battle.
8. Nirbhaya gangrape happened 10 months after Chhawla
On 16 December 2012, 10 months after the Chawla rape case, a 23-year-old girl was gang-raped in a moving bus in South Delhi. She boarded the bus with her friend. Her internal organs were badly injured during the gangrape. He was sent to a hospital in Singapore.

Delhi government to file review petition in Chhawla gangrape case
