Due to excessive rain in Seoni, where maize and soybean crops have been destroyed. At the same time, three red dani (desi) groundnuts are arriving at the wholesale vegetable market behind the temporary bus stand of the city since the last fortnight.

3000 to 3800 price

Regional farmers are selling groundnut crop at a price ranging from Rs 3000 to Rs 3800/- after reaching the market place of the city.

Peanuts were exported last year

In earlier years it was sent to Nagpur and Raipur for sale. But this year, local traders of indigenous groundnut are selling groundnut by taking them to other states including Aurangabad, Akola and Nanded in Maharashtra. Local traders told that the average crop is neither less nor more than the previous years, about 30 quintal groundnuts are being brought and sold by the regional farmers in the city every day.

Crop insurance not availed

Farmers told that and some percentage of crop insurance has been done by the farmers, it cannot be denied. But most of the farmers have not insured the crop in the field farmers, as in the earlier times, most of the farmers did not trust crop insurance by private companies. Due to which the farmers have suffered heavy losses in the crops of maize and soybean.
