The Punjab government has issued a WhatsApp number to ease the process of soil excavation clearance. After sending a message to this number, permission can be obtained for digging 3 feet of soil from 2 acres of land in Punjab. This information has been given by the Minister of Mines and Land Science, Punjab, Harjot Singh Bains.

Harjot Singh Bains told that under the ‘Sand and Gravel Mining Policy-2021’ by the then Congress government in the state, the soil up to 3 feet was approved by hand in an area of up to 2 acres. Due to this people had to face problems and had to make rounds of the office. A case of mining was also registered against any person for the use of the machine.

Harjot Bains told that CM Bhagwant Mann has approved the use of machines to make this complex process easier. Now an official order has been issued to give permission for excavation of soil up to 3 feet from an area of up to 2 acres through WhatsApp message. Now soil excavation approval will be given through WhatsApp message.

For taking approval, the applicant has to enter his/her name/father’s name, village name, village sarpanch name, tehsil/district name, Aadhar card number, mobile number and the revenue record of the place where the excavation is to be done. The number has to be sent to the Hadast WhatsApp number (99140-09095). This will make it easier for the common man and the landlords to carry soil from the fields for homes or other purposes. Harjot Singh Bains said that if the information is complete and correct, the nodal officer will issue a unique identification number to the applicant through WhatsApp or text message.

Minister Harjot Singh Bains also made it clear that if anyone takes permission for excavation by giving wrong facts and if the matter of digging more excavation comes to the fore during the departmental inquiry, then action will be taken as per rules.
