On the 553rd Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann along with wife Gurpreet Kaur on Tuesday paid obeisance at Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib. On this holy day, he congratulated the Sangat who took the name of Nanak residing all over the world on the occasion of Guru Parv and appealed to follow the principles of Guru ji.

CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann also made a big announcement during this time. He said that the Anand Marriage Act would be fully implemented in Punjab. He said that it is already implemented in 22 states of the country including Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh and Haryana. People will also be made aware in this regard by fully implementing it in Punjab. The CM said that its notification was issued in 2016, but it could not be fully implemented.

Sikh community demand
The Sikh community has been demanding that their marriage be registered under the Anand Marriage Act. This act was made in 1909. After this, the Hindu Marriage Act was enacted in 1955, adding Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains. The demand of the people of the Sikh community was that the Anand Marriage Act should be implemented for them. He said that there is a big problem about this in foreign countries. Sikh is written on the passport and the marriage certificate is of Hindu religion.
