The ban was to open from October 1st but did not open

During the monsoon season, the State Environment Clearance Authority (SECA) had banned mining in ravines and rivers in Punjab. During these 3 months, the prices of sand, stone, gravel started increasing. People had hoped that if mining would reopen from October 1, then the prices of sand, stone and gravel would come down, but they were disappointed.

The State Environment Clearance Authority (SECA) shocked the government and the people even before the sand mining work started in the pits from October 1. The ban was not lifted. The State Environment Clearance Authority said that first the state’s ravines and rivers should be surveyed at the district level and its report should be sent to the SECA.

After the report is received and after studying it, the decision will be taken on where and where the approval for mining is to be given. The good news is that the survey work has started in all the districts of the state from October 8 and the survey teams have to submit their reports within 15 days.
