Lok Sabha Secretariat has canceled the membership of BSP MP from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, Afzal Ansari. Afzal was sentenced to 4 years in the Gangster Act by Ghazipur’s MP/MLA court 3 days ago. Afzal’s brother mafia Mukhtar Ansari has also been sentenced to 10 years in the same case.
On the other hand, 11 states will not get relief from rain and hail till Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain and hail in these states on May 2 and 3. Hail accompanied with rain will occur in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Chandigarh and Haryana. On the other hand, heavy rains are expected in Arunachal, Assam, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.

1. Parliament membership of Afzal Ansari ended, people elected MLA 5 times and MP 2 times
Afzal Ansari contested the 2019 Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat as the BSP candidate of the alliance. He defeated BJP candidate and then Union Minister Manoj Sinha by 1 lakh 19 thousand votes. Earlier in the year 2004, he was elected MP for the first time. Afzal contested the assembly elections for the first time in the year 1985 and won, he was also an MLA for 5 times.
The Ansari brothers were booked under the UP Gangsters Act for the November 29, 2005 murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai from Ghazipur’s Muhammadabad seat and the abduction and murder of Varanasi-based businessman Nand Kishore Rungta in 1997. In 2005, a total of 7 people including BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai were murdered. In 2007, a case was registered under the Gangster Act.

2. SC will approve divorce if there is no scope for reconciliation, the requirement of waiting for 6 months is over

3. Hail-rain alert in 11 states, snowfall in Kedarnath-Badrinath, Char Dham Yatra stopped
Traffic police personnel wearing raincoats during rain in Delhi on Monday.
Temperatures in Delhi NCR, Haryana-Punjab are 9-10 degrees Celsius below normal. It will remain like this till May 3, after which the temperature may increase by 3-5 degree Celsius. In Delhi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 19.6 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature at 26.1 degree Celsius on the previous day. Here, due to heavy rain and snowfall in Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham, the Char Dham Yatra has been stopped in Srinagar itself.
Kedarnath Dham has been receiving intermittent snowfall for the last 13 days. The process of snowfall in Dham started from 18th April. During the next 2 days, rains will continue over entire Northwest India. There is an alert of heavy rain for Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand. The maximum temperature in Delhi has been recorded 10 degrees below the average temperature of this season i.e. 28.7 degrees Celsius.

4. Asia Cup can be cancelled, claims- India will organize 5 countries tournament without PAK
The Asia Cup cricket tournament to be held in Pakistan in September this year may be cancelled. This claim has been made by the Pakistani website ‘Pakistan Cricket’ quoting the Pakistan Cricket Board. According to the claim, BCCI can organize a five-nation tournament after the cancellation of the Asia Cup. In which all other teams of Asia except Pakistan can participate.
However, an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board called it a rumour. He said that no decision has been taken on this yet. In the ICC calendar, the Asia Cup to be held in 2023 has been given to Pakistan. BCCI had made it clear as soon as the calendar was released that the Indian team would not go to Pakistan to play. BCCI has asked to hold the Asia Cup at a neutral venue.

5. UN meeting in Qatar on Afghanistan Crisis, but Taliban not invited

The United Nations is holding a summit on the Afghanistan Crisis in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Apart from America, Russia, Pakistan and China, Qatar is also participating in the summit which will be held from May 1 to 2. However, no representative of the country on whose problems this summit is being held will participate in it. The Taliban-ruled Afghanistan government has not been invited to the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting is how to provide education and work rights to Afghan women and girls. In the meeting, the UN has invited those countries, which are directly related to the Afghanistan issue in one way or the other. Apart from this, those organizations have also been called in the summit which give maximum financial help to Afghanistan. 25 members are involved in the meeting.

300 drunken policemen in Assam will get VRS, full salary, new recruitment will be done on vacant posts
Assam government is going to give option of Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to 300 policemen addicted to alcohol. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that these policemen are addicted to alcohol. Because of this, they are not able to do their duty honestly. His body has also become weak due to drinking alcohol. People have also made serious complaints against these policemen.
The Chief Minister informed that 300 officers and employees in the Police Department are addicted to alcohol. There is already a rule to give VRS to such employees, but it was never implemented. This type of VRS is being given in other places as well, but this is happening for the first time in Assam. These policemen will continue to get full salary.
