The incident happened in the NIT area, all the items kept in the room were burnt to ashes.
A fire broke out in a LPG cylinder in a house in NIT’s Chacha Chowk, Gali of Sanjay Exclave GB Pant School, completely damaged the upper floor of the house. Thankfully there was no loss of life or property in this incident.
According to the information, PS Teotia, a member of Jat Seva Samiti, has built a house in Sanjay Enclave. His son Premveer’s family lives on the upper floor. At around 3 pm on Tuesday, Premveer’s wife lit gas to make tea, when the cylinder caught fire. Neighbors reached the spot after raising an alarm and pulled out their children. Shortly after, the cylinder exploded and the room caught fire. By the time the fire brigade arrived on information, the neighbors controlled the fire by running somersable. In this incident the upper floor completely collapsed. All the items kept in the room were destroyed by burning. It is said that the Tevatia family had taken the cylinder from the agency vendor on Tuesday morning. There has also been a crack in the ground floor walls under this house.
