Mumbai Court News: Chasing a minor girl in Mumbai has cost a man dearly. The Mumbai court sentenced the 32-year-old man to jail for a full year. This person was accused of stalking a 15-year-old minor girl and teasing her by speaking nonsense. The sentence in this case has been pronounced after eight years.
A man has now been jailed eight years after stalking and harassing a 15-year-old girl in 2015. The girl’s mother lodged a complaint in September 2015. According to the complaint, on September 1, 2015, after returning from school, the girl was going to tuition by bicycle at around 2 pm. Meanwhile, while following her, the accused started calling the minor aaja-aja, due to which the girl got scared.
Started keeping an eye on the minor
When the girl got scared and started shouting for help, the accused fled from the spot. After this, the accused did the same on September 3, 2015 and the next day he went outside the girl’s building and started keeping an eye on her. The girl told her parents about this and started searching for the accused. On September 6, the girl identified the accused and a case was registered against him.
What did the court say?
However, the accused says that he is not guilty in this case. He has denied all the allegations leveled against him. Judge AZ Khan, who is hearing the case, said, “I am of the view that the accused followed the minor girl and tried to tease her by saying nonsense. Holding that it comes under the ambit of sexual harassment, the court has awarded him a Sentenced to one year jail.
The accused person has been convicted under the provisions of the POCSO Act. Even before this, the accused was arrested in the year 2015 itself. Before being granted bail in 2016, the accused had been in jail for almost a year.
