The Central Government has decided to make changes in the minimum service conditions of promotion under the Seventh Pay Commission. Now the promotion of government employees will be on the basis of 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix (7th CPC Pay Matrix) and Pay Level.

The Office Memorandum has been issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) in consultation with UPSC in terms of minimum conditions for promotion under Pay Matrix and Pay Level of 7th Pay Commission after approval from Competent Authority. There has been talk of making changes. These changes will also be included in the recruitment rules and service rules through amendments. DoPT has requested all ministries and departments to make changes in the rules of recruitment and service rules.

The minimum eligible service conditions for promotion of central employees will be as follows. For Level 1 to Level 2, it will be necessary to have 3 years of service. Level 2 to Level 3 will also require 3 years of service. For promotion from Level 2 to Level 4, 8 years of service will be required. For Level 4 to Level 6, 10 years of service has been made mandatory.
