More than 350 Supreme Court and High Court lawyers have condemned the controversial statement of Law Minister Kiren Rijiju. Rijiju made a comment about retired judges in India Today’s conclave. He had said that some retired judges have become part of the Anti India group.
On this statement of Rijiju, the group of lawyers has issued a statement. He said that bullying and threatening a minister does not suit. Criticizing the government is neither against the nation nor a seditious activity.
The government cannot tolerate if there is no consensus on anything
Lawyers say that by threatening retired judges, the Law Minister is sending a message to the people that no voice of protest will be spared. The lawyers insisted that critics of the government were every bit as patriotic as those in government. The central government wants that it should also interfere in the appointment of judges, but there is no such rule in the collegium.
Rijiju said – some people are tarnishing the image of the country
Rijiju had said in the India Today program that a seminar was held a few days ago on the accountability of judges, but the discussion was on some other issue. It discussed how the executive was influencing the judiciary. Many retired judges have become part of the anti-national gang. Some people want to turn the judiciary against the government. Such people will not survive. Those who work against the country will have to pay the price.
He further said that anti-India forces inside and outside the country by Rijiju use the same language that democracy is in danger. Human rights do not exist in India. What this anti-India gang says, the same language is used by Rahul Gandhi. This tarnishes the image of India.
