In a case of attempt to murder, Betul’s court has sentenced 15 people, including his brother, former member of district panchayat and strong BJP leader Tapan Vishwas. The court has punished with imprisonment of five years and with fine.

The court of Third District Judge and Additional Sessions Judge today sentenced 15 people including BJP leader Tapan Vishwas, his brother Sapan, Sanjay to five years rigorous imprisonment in the case of attempt to murder, rioting, assault. According to the prosecution, the court has sentenced all the 15 accused in this case for attempt to murder under Section 307 with rigorous imprisonment of 5 years and fine of 2000-2000. Apart from this, he has been sentenced to 2 years rigorous imprisonment under section 325, 2 years rigorous imprisonment under section 452, while for rioting, he has been sentenced to six months imprisonment. The court has sentenced Tapan, his brother Sanjay and Sapan to one year’s rigorous imprisonment under the Arms Act.

On 10 August 2012, 25 to 30 people with weapons entered the house of Satranjan Carpenter in Amdoh village of Chopna police station area. During this, these people attacked Satranjan Badai, Praveer Carpenter, Sapna and Rama. Four people were badly injured in this attack. The incident was reported to the police. The injured were sent to the hospital for treatment. The police had registered a case against Tapan Vishwas, Sapan Biswas and Sanjay Vishwas and other 23 people in this case under sections 307, 25 Arms Act and other sections.

On behalf of the complainant, Piyush Carpenter told that in 2010, I was the Panchayat Secretary and at that time Tapan Vishwas was the District Panchayat member. He used to continuously pressurize the panchayat to get unethical work done. He used to envy us and our family for not doing immoral acts. That’s why they attacked our family. It may have taken time, but we have got justice. Advocate Gufran Khan, appearing for the complainant, said that after a long legal battle, justice has been given to the aggrieved party.
